Thanks! I did a quick scan, and it points to a problem with the active air flap. Electromechanism defective...that sounds expensive! Was that the eventual problem with yours?

Yep, that was exactly it. Active air flap electromechanism went kaput. I tried a few things, but honestly, it's a fiddly job. Ended up taking it to the shop. Bit the bullet and got it sorted. I'd recommend getting a proper diagnostic check and then consider your options. Could save you a headache.

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my GrandlandX – not sure what year it is exactly. Is it throwing any fault codes related to the cooling system or the active air flap? A diagnostic scan should pinpoint it. Could be a defective electromechanism.
