GrandVoyager DPF Failure Causing Power Loss & Smoke

Looking for advice on my 2010 GrandVoyager diesel engine troubles. Warning light came on recently, and the car lost power significantly. When accelerating, there is dark smoke coming from the exhaust with a strong smell. My local mechanic previously did a poor job with repairs, so I am hesitant to return. The DPF pressure sensor readings are low according to my OBD scanner. Has anyone experienced similar DPF issues with this model? Car has only done 40242 km, so these emission control problems seem unusual. Any recommendations for proper DPF regeneration or repair approaches would be appreciated.

After my earlier repairs on the 300C, I can confirm the diesel exhaust system has worked perfectly for over a year now. The faulty exhaust back pressure sensor was the main culprit, costing 245€ to replace. The DPF regeneration process has been functioning normally since fixing that component. The emission control system readings have stayed stable, with no reduced power episodes or dark smoke issues recurring. The particulate filter maintains proper pressure levels during regular operation. I still monitor the sensor values occasionally through my OBD reader, but mainly out of habit rather than concern now. To maintain optimal DPF performance, I make sure to take regular longer drives that allow complete regeneration cycles. This preventive approach helps avoid future diesel exhaust system complications. The initial investment in proper repairs definitely proved worthwhile compared to risking more extensive engine damage.

Thanks everyone for the helpful insights. After getting my GrandVoyager fixed last week, I wanted to share how it went. Found a specialized diesel workshop that properly diagnosed the issue. The total repair came to 780€, which included replacing the pressure sensor, cleaning the particulate filter, and running multiple DPF regeneration cycles. The reduced power problems disappeared completely after the repair. The dark smoke from the diesel exhaust is gone too. Been taking the car on longer drives as suggested, and the emission control system is working perfectly now. The mechanic showed me the before and after readings, the difference in exhaust back pressure is remarkable. Really glad I decided to get it done properly instead of trying cheaper temporary fixes. The new workshop did a thorough job testing everything afterward, which gave me confidence in the repair. Going to keep monitoring the DPF readings, but so far everything is running smoothly.
