Greiz Belt Tensioner Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Honda Greiz with approximately 189,000 km is experiencing issues with the belt tensioner, described as a problem with the "belt-handover." The suspected cause is a defective belt tensioner or pulley. A similar issue in another vehicle led to the belt jumping off the pulley, affecting engine performance. The recommended solution is to have the tensioner checked and replaced at a workshop to prevent further damage, which was confirmed and resolved at a cost of 455€.

Squealing? Not really, no. More like a subtle rubbing sound that I ignored for too long, I guess. But what do you mean with 'completely kaput'? Was the engine performance affected in your case?

Yeah, the belt eventually jumped off the pulley. The Astra's engine was stumbling pretty badly. Better get it checked out at a workshop before it gets worse and leaves you stranded.

Alright, thanks for the heads-up. Dropped it off at the shop today. Turns out you were spot on - the tensioner pulley was toast. Cost me 455€ to get it sorted, but at least it's running smoothly again!

Sounds familiar. Had a similar issue with my old Opel Astra, though it was the tensioner pulley causing all sorts of grief. Was your serpentine belt squealing before it went completely kaput?
