GT86 Automatic Transmission Converter Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Toyota GT86 is experiencing issues with the check engine and transmission indicator lights on, along with gearbox slipping, unclean shifts, and grinding noises. The problem is likely due to a defective automatic transmission converter, specifically related to the torque converter or lock-up clutch. The suggested solution is to take the vehicle to a workshop for repair, which may be costly.

Yes, it's when shifting! So, you are saying you had the same symptoms and error codes, and it was the torque converter or lock-up clutch? What did you do?

Yep, same deal. Grinding noises, slipping, all the lights. I bit the bullet and took it to a workshop. Turned out the automatic transmission converter was indeed defective. Cost me a pretty penny.

Thanks for confirming. I feared as much. I guess I'll have to do the same and get it to a workshop. My wallet is going to cry, especially since the repair cost is estimated to be 2120€. Thanks again!

I had something similar happen in my GT86. Was it the torque converter? They call it a converter fault or converter failure sometimes, something with the lock-up clutch. Does it happen when you're shifting?
