GT86 Fuel Pump Connector Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Toyota GT86 was experiencing starting issues, rough idling, stalling, and increased fuel consumption, with the check engine light on. The suspected cause was a faulty fuel pump. Upon investigation, it was found that the problem was due to a loose fuel pump connector, which was causing intermittent fuel pump failure. Cleaning and replacing the connector resolved the issue, confirming the initial suspicion.

Good call on the electricals, I'll check those first. Where exactly is the fuel pump located, and what kind of error code are we talking about? Just so I know what to look for.

The fuel pump is usually in the fuel tank. I still think it is the cable or plug connection. It is most likely the cause of your problems and the error in the error memory. I'd still advise taking it to a workshop. That's what I did.

I checked the fuel pump connector, gave it a clean, and it was indeed the culprit! The connection was loose. The error code pointed to the fuel pump circuit, so that was a great lead. It ended up costing me 95€ for a new connector. I appreciate the help!

I had similar symptoms with my GT86. I'd start by checking the fuel pump's electrical connections, specifically the cable and plug. A loose or corroded connection can cause intermittent fuel pump failure. It is also known as voltage drop. If you don't have enough voltage, the pump does not work correctly. What error code are you getting?
