GT86 Oil Pressure Warning and Engine Noises

I'm having a serious issue with my 2013 Toyota GT86 gasoline. It's got 187005 km on the clock. Recently, the oil pressure warning lamp has been lighting up, and I'm hearing some pretty loud mechanical noises coming from the engine. I'm really worried. I checked the oil level, and it's fine. I'm wondering if it could be a clogged oil filter or a faulty oil pressure sensor, but I'm not sure where to start! Any ideas?

I had a similar problem on my GT86, same symptoms. Have you checked the oil pressure gauge (if yours has one)? It could also be an oil pump failure. These cars sometimes suffer from it.

Thanks for the reply! No, I haven't checked the gauge, I don't have one in the car. How did you figure out it was the oil pump? Was it expensive to fix?

Well, after checking everything else (oil filter, oil pressure sensor), the workshop told me that they found a defect in the oil pump. I suggest you go to one, they will know what to do.

Thanks a lot for the tip! I took it to my local mechanic, and you were right, it was the oil pump! The total repair cost was 755€, ouch! But at least it's fixed now. Really appreciate your help!
