GT86 Overheating Check Engine Light

Hi, I have a 2016 Toyota GT86 with a gasoline engine. The check engine light came on, and the engine is overheating. A diagnostic scan revealed an active air flap fault. Could a defective electromechanism be the culprit?

I drive a GT86 too. Overheating and check engine light... sounds familiar. Was the fault code related to the air intake?

Yes, the fault code pointed to the active air flap. Did you experience the same issue, and what was the fix?

Yep, same here. I tried a few things, but nothing worked. Bit the bullet and took it to a workshop. Cost around 590€, but at least it's fixed. Probably best to get it checked out.

Thanks for confirming. I'll schedule an appointment with a workshop to get the active air flap electromechanism replaced.
