GT86 Overvoltage Errors
Summary of the thread
A 2017 Toyota GT86 is experiencing overvoltage errors, random system failures, and a weak battery on startup. The issue may be due to a faulty voltage regulator or a defective battery causing a power surge. The recommended solution is to have a professional check the battery and voltage regulator, as replacing the battery resolved a similar issue for another owner.

The electrical weirdness is off the charts. How did you fix yours? Did you also see any 'high voltage' warnings, or was it all just random system failures? What did you exactly do? And how much did you pay?

Overvoltage can fry stuff, like your car's ECU, so don't ignore it! I wasn't comfortable poking around myself, so I took it to a trusted mechanic. He checked the voltage regulator and the battery. It turned out the battery was heavily discharged and defective, causing the overvoltage. I'd suggest getting it checked by a professional to avoid more damage.

Thanks for the info! I'll take it to a workshop and get the battery and voltage regulator checked out. You were right. They replaced the battery and that seems to have solved the issue. Cost me 290€.

Sounds rough! I had something similar happen in my Toyota 86. Lots of electrical weirdness, right? Overvoltage probably means the voltage in your car's electrical system is higher than it should be, often caused by a faulty voltage regulator or a bad battery. Did you check your battery?
