GT86 Seat Massage Failure

I have a perplexing issue concerning my 2019 Toyota GT86 with a gasoline engine. The massage function in my seat has stopped working. It can't be switched on, and a diagnostic tool shows an error related to the seat massage system. It only has 39665 km, so I'm puzzled. I suspect a defective cable or plug connection. Has anyone else experienced something similar, or could offer some guidance on where to begin troubleshooting?

Summary of the thread

The 2019 Toyota GT86 owner faced an issue with the seat massage function, which stopped working and showed a diagnostic error. Suspecting a defective cable or plug connection, they sought advice on troubleshooting. After checking the fuses and considering wiring issues, they decided to consult a professional. The problem was identified as a defective connector, which was repaired at a reasonable cost.

Huh, massage seats in a GT86? Didn't even know that was an option. Anyway, electrical stuff can be a pain. I had a similar thing happen with my old Corolla's heated seats years ago. Check the fuses first, that's always the easiest thing. There should be a diagram in your owner's manual. If that doesn't fix it, then I'm out of ideas. Is the error code something specific, or just a general 'seat massage not working' type of thing?

I've already checked the fuses, and they appear to be in good order. The error code is somewhat vague, indicating a general malfunction within the seat massage system. Could you elaborate on your experience with the Corolla's heated seats? Did you encounter any specific challenges in diagnosing the issue, or are there any particular areas I should focus on when inspecting the wiring and connections?

Nah, with the Corolla it ended up being a broken wire under the seat. A real pain to find. Honestly, if the fuse is good and the code is vague, and you've already started suspecting wiring, you're probably right. Unless you're really comfortable messing with car upholstery and electrical systems, it might be worth just taking it to a shop. I know, nobody wants to spend the money, but sometimes it's just easier than spending a whole weekend upside down in your car.

Based on your insights and considering the potential complexity, I've decided to seek professional assistance. I took it to the workshop, and it turned out to be a defective connector. The repair cost me approximately 95€, which I deem a reasonable price.
