GT86 Serpentine Belt Tensioner Issue

I'm having trouble with my 2016 Toyota GT86 with a gasoline engine. The car has 37962 km. The belt-handover isn't working as expected. I suspect a defective belt bringer or handover mechanism. Any insights?

Hey, that's an interesting problem. When you say 'belt-handover', do you mean the serpentine belt tensioner? Those can cause issues with engine performance if they aren't working properly. Is the belt slipping or making any noise?

Yes, I mean the serpentine belt tensioner. When it is not working well, what kind of issues do you think this may cause in engine performance? I am not certain whether the belt is audibly slipping.

Okay, a failing tensioner pulley can cause the belt to slip, which could lead to reduced power to your accessories like the alternator or the AC. If you're not sure if it's slipping, a workshop can easily diagnose it. Given what you've described, a defective tensioner seems likely. Get it checked before it causes further damage. Seems like a job for the professionals.

I appreciate the information. I visited a workshop and after inspection, the issue was indeed a defective belt tensioner. The repair cost came to 455€. Thank you for confirming my suspicions and for the advice.
