GT86 Tire Pressure ABS and Steering Issues

Hey, I'm having a weird issue with my 2014 Toyota GT86 (gasoline engine). The tire pressure warning light keeps popping up, even after I've inflated the tires. What's even stranger is that the ABS light is also on, the steering wheel vibrates like crazy, and the power steering feels super heavy, making it hard to turn. The car has 177814 km on it. Could it be a faulty sensor, or am I looking at something more serious?

I experienced something similar with my GT86. The symptoms you describe sound eerily familiar. It's like when you have a leaky faucet – the constant dripping (pressure loss) eventually leads to bigger problems (ABS, steering). Have you checked the tire valves themselves for any signs of damage or leaks? A tiny crack can cause a slow pressure loss that the tire sensors pick up, triggering the whole cascade of warnings.

Interesting analogy! I haven't specifically checked the valves. I've mostly been focusing on the tire pressure itself. Where exactly should I be looking on the valve, and how would I identify a leak? Is there a simple test I can do myself before taking it to a mechanic?

The valve stem is the most likely culprit, so examine it carefully for any visible cracks or corrosion. You can try the soapy water test – mix some dish soap with water and apply it around the valve stem. If you see bubbles forming, you've found your leak. Given the ABS light and steering issues, however, it might be wise to have a professional inspect the entire tire monitoring system. It's like ignoring a small engine fire, it can quickly escalate, and the electronic power steering systems are rather sensitive.

Thanks a bunch for the insight! The soapy water test revealed a leaky valve on one of the tires. Took it to the shop, and they confirmed it. New valve, sensor check, and all is well for a total of 280€. You saved me a ton of diagnostic time!
