GT86 Windshield Washer Heater Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2014 Toyota GT86 owner is experiencing issues with the windshield washer heater, indicated by an error code and frozen spray nozzles in cold weather. The problem may be due to a faulty cable or plug connection to the heater element. It is suggested to check the connection to the washer motor, located behind the bumper on the passenger side, accessible by removing the wheel arch liner. If unsure about handling car electrics, consulting a workshop for inspection and repair is recommended.

Thanks for the tip! Where exactly is the washer motor and the heating element located? I'm not very experienced when it comes to working on cars myself.

Okay, so on mine, the washer bottle and motor are in the front, behind the bumper on the passenger side. You can access it by removing the wheel arch liner. Honestly, unless you're confident with car electrics, I'd suggest getting a workshop to check the connections and the heater element. I ended up doing that myself. It cost me 95€, including parts and labour.

Thanks a bunch for the advice! I'll take it to a local workshop and have them check the connections and the heating element itself. Hopefully, it won't cost me too much. I appreciate the help!

I had a similar drama with my GT86 – though I didn't check the error codes. Same symptoms though: frozen washer jets when it was freezing. The most likely cause is a dodgy cable or plug connection to the heater element itself. Have you checked the connection to the washer motor? Is power getting there?
