GTR Belt Tensioner Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Nissan GTR owner suspects a faulty belt tensioner due to a malfunctioning belt handover and a whirring noise. The issue is confirmed by another individual who experienced similar symptoms with a different car, suggesting the noise and symptoms align with a belt tensioner problem. The recommendation is to have the belt tensioner inspected by a workshop to prevent further damage, which the owner follows, confirming the diagnosis and resolving the issue.

Yeah, I have noticed a bit of a whirring sound now that you mention it. Where was the sound coming from in your case? Did it get louder with the engine speed?

The sound in my BMW was definitely coming from the front of the engine, where the belt and pulleys are located. And yes, it absolutely got louder as the RPMs increased. Given your symptoms and the noise, it's probably wise to get the belt tensioner checked out by a workshop. Could save you from a snapped belt and bigger problems down the road.

Thanks for the advice. I took it to the workshop, and you were right – it was the belt tensioner. The bill came to 455€ including parts and labor. Appreciate the help!

That sounds familiar. I had a similar problem with my old BMW 3 series, not exactly the same symptom but the belt tensioner was definitely the culprit. The engine started making a strange noise, almost like a whirring sound. Have you noticed any unusual engine noise along with the belt issue?
