GX AC Control Unit Failure
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Lexus GX is experiencing air conditioning issues, with the system not cooling or turning on and a warning light indicating a potential problem. Initial diagnostics suggest a defective A/C control unit as the cause. A similar case confirmed that a faulty A/C control unit was indeed the issue, leading to a costly repair. The suggested solution is to have the control unit inspected and possibly replaced by a professional workshop.

Thanks for the reply. The compressor is not engaging at all. The diagnostic points towards the control unit, but I'm hesitant to replace it without further confirmation. What was the eventual culprit in your case?

Okay, complete compressor failure sounds like a very strong hint towards the control unit being the issue. I took mine to a reputable workshop, and they confirmed that the AC unit was busted. It ended up costing me a fair amount to fix, so be prepared. I had hoped it was just a fuse or something!

Appreciate the confirmation. It seems I'll be heading to the workshop as well. I was quoted around 980€ for the repair, which aligns with what I've seen elsewhere. Thanks for sharing your experience; it helped confirm my suspicions.

I have a GX too and your issue sounds familiar. I had all the same symptoms a while back - no cold air, warning lights, the works. Did the compressor seem to be engaging at all, or was it completely dead? I was getting ready to throw parts at it, but it turned out to be something slightly different in my case, though not exactly cheap.
