GX Air Flap Fault

Hey, I've got a 2023 Lexus GX hybrid with about 180k km on it. Recently, the check engine light popped on, and I've noticed the engine seems to be running hotter than usual. Did a quick scan and it's showing an active air flap fault. Thinking it might be the electromechanism. Anyone else run into this?

Whoa, overheating isn't good! I've got a GX too. Though I haven't run into that specific air flap issue yet, I've been reading about cooling system problems in these things. Is your grille shutter opening and closing like it should? Could be stuck closed, maybe?

Good point! I wasn't even thinking about the grille shutter itself. How would I even check that? Is it pretty obvious if it's not working right?

Well, I'm no expert, but I think you should be able to see it move when the engine is cold and you start it up. Maybe have someone else start it while you peek under the hood? If it's not moving, yeah, it could be stuck. But honestly, with the check engine light on and the overheating, might be best to get it checked out by a pro. Could save you some hassle.

Yeah, you're probably right. Didn't want to start throwing parts at it. Dropped it off at the shop this morning, and they confirmed it's the air flap electromechanism. Quoted me around 590€ for the repair. Thanks for the input!
