Yeah, complete failure, unfortunately. No belt squeal to speak of. Just stopped working entirely. Was the Volvo repair straightforward? Did parts need to be specially ordered or anything?

Mine packed it in pretty quick, too. The Volvo repair wasn't too bad, but getting to the tensioner was awkward. If you're not familiar with that kind of work, I'd probably suggest finding a good workshop. Much less hassle, honestly.

Thanks for the insight. Appreciate you sharing your experience. I took your advice and visited the garage; turns out it was indeed the belt tensioner, precisely as you predicted. The repair set me back 455€, but at least it's sorted now.

That's a bummer. I had a similar problem with my old Volvo a while back. It ended up being a bad belt tensioner. You're experiencing complete failure of the belt handover? Any belt squeal before it went out?
