GX engine power loss
Summary of the thread
A 2006 Lexus GX is experiencing significant engine power loss, with a diagnostic check indicating an error. This issue could potentially be related to the ECU, but a similar case was resolved by replacing a defective main relay. The main relay, located near the fuse box in the engine bay, was identified as the cause of the power loss and occasional stalling at idle. Professional diagnosis confirmed the relay issue, leading to a successful repair.

Thanks. Could you elaborate on the location of the main relay and how you determined it was the cause? Did you experience any other symptoms besides the reduced power?

I'm no mechanic, but I think it's in the engine bay near the fuse box – check your manual. I just took it to a workshop, they diagnosed it pretty quick. Besides the power loss, sometimes it felt like the engine was going to stall at idle. If it's the relay, it's not too expensive, but I'd get it checked out professionally.

I took it to a workshop as you suggested, and it turned out to be a defective main relay as suspected. The repair cost was approximately 120€. Thanks for your assistance in diagnosing the problem.

Hey, I had a similar issue with my GX a while back. Reduced power and an error code pointing to some kind of control system malfunction. Have you checked the main relay? That was the culprit in my case. Same symptoms though.
