GX Rear Sun Blind Failure
Summary of the thread
The rear sun blind on a 2008 Lexus GX has stopped functioning, neither retracting nor extending, with error codes indicating a fault. The suspected cause is a defective motor, as another owner experienced a similar issue that was resolved by replacing the motor. The recommended solution is to have a reputable workshop diagnose and repair the problem, with an expected cost around 330€.

That's interesting. No, I didn't notice any unusual noises beforehand. It just stopped working one day. Was your issue definitely the motor, and what was the fix?

Yes, the workshop confirmed it was the motor. Replacement was the only solution. I'd recommend a reputable shop for diagnosis and a quote, as they'll need to access the inner workings. My repair cost 330€, including labor and parts. At least now you're prepared.

Thank you. A workshop visit seems unavoidable. I appreciate you confirming my suspicion and sharing your experience. That gives me a good benchmark for the expected repair cost. I'll share the resolution once it's fixed.

I have a GX too, and I had the same problem last year. The sun blind would get stuck, and error codes pointed to the motor. Did you notice any unusual noises before it failed? Maybe a struggling or grinding sound?
