Warranty expired, unfortunately. Symptoms developed gradually over a week. Initially, just slow paddle shifter response. Progressed to slipping and noises. Your Alfa - was it definitely the control unit, or something else?

Definitely points to the control unit in my case, after much head-scratching and many visits to the mechanic. Though, honestly, with modern car computers, who really knows anymore? Have you had it properly diagnosed by a professional? Because frankly, with those symptoms, are you really going to risk further damage trying to DIY it?

Confirmed diagnosis: defective TCU. Quoted 1000€ for replacement. Thanks for the input.

Wow, that sounds awful! Is it still under warranty? My old Alfa Romeo had similar issues with the automatic gearbox a few years back. Slipping, weird noises... felt like driving through treacle. And the electronic issues! Did you notice it getting worse gradually, or did it just suddenly go bonkers?
