Summary of the thread
A 2023 Hyundai H1 exhibited an ABS light issue, with diagnostics indicating a fault in the lateral acceleration sensor. Initial suspicion was on the control unit, but advice suggested checking the wiring harness and connections for loose or damaged wires. After inspection and further professional diagnosis, the problem was confirmed to be a defective lateral acceleration sensor, leading to a repair costing 1000€.

Thanks for the quick response. Can you elaborate on the specific areas of the wiring harness and connections I should inspect? Are there any points known to be problematic on the i800 that might also apply to my H1, given their similarities? I want to exhaust all possibilities before replacing anything.

Check the connector where the sensor plugs into the wiring harness. Look for corrosion or any signs of damage. Wiggle the wires while the car is running (carefully!) to see if the ABS light flickers. If everything looks okay there, it's likely the sensor itself. I'd advise taking it to a trusted workshop. They'll be able to diagnose it properly.

I inspected the wiring and connectors, but found nothing. I took it to a workshop, and their diagnosis confirmed the lateral acceleration sensor was defective. The repair, including parts and labor, was 1000€. Your guidance helped speed up the resolution and avoid unnecessary troubleshooting. Thanks again.

I had a similar issue with my Hyundai i800. The ABS light came on intermittently, and diagnostics pointed to the lateral sensor. Have you checked the wiring harness and connections to the sensor? Sometimes a loose connection or damaged wire can trigger a false error. It might be worth a quick inspection before assuming the control unit is faulty.
