H1 Central Locking and Bumper Antenna Issue

Alright, car gurus, I'm stumped. My 2012 Hyundai H1, gasoline engine, is giving me fits. The central locking is acting possessed – sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. And I'm getting an error code, plus the engine won't start without the key physically in the ignition. I ran a scan and it's pointing to something with the bumper antenna. Anyone else seen this craziness? I'm thinking it's a dodgy wire or plug, but where do I even start looking?

Summary of the thread

The 2012 Hyundai H1 is experiencing issues with its central locking system and requires the key physically in the ignition to start, accompanied by an error code related to the bumper antenna. The problem may be due to a faulty wire or plug connection in the bumper antenna system. It is suggested to have a professional workshop assess and potentially replace defective parts to resolve the issue.

I had a similar issue with my Hyundai H1. The symptoms you describe suggest a problem with the car's radio receiver. Have you checked the wiring and connections related to the car antenna system? Signal interference may occur if the connections are loose or corroded.

Thanks for the quick reply! When you say 'car antenna system,' are we talking about the actual antenna wire running to the car radio, or is there something else hidden in the bumper I should be hunting for? I'm fairly handy with a wrench, but electrical gremlins are my kryptonite.

The issue lies in the bumper antenna and, as suspected, the cable or plug connection of the component may be defective. I recommend that you take your vehicle to a workshop. They will be able to professionally assess the problem and replace any defective parts.

Appreciate the confirmation! I was hoping to avoid the shop, but it sounds like this is beyond my shade-tree skills. Dropped it off this morning, and they're quoting 95€ to fix the antenna connection. Fingers crossed that's all it is! Thanks again for steering me in the right direction.
