H1 Intake Manifold Issue
Summary of the thread
The conversation centers around a 2003 Hyundai H1 diesel experiencing jerking during acceleration, reduced power, a check engine light, stalling at idle, rough running, and a strong exhaust smell. These symptoms suggest a potential issue with the intake manifold, possibly due to vacuum leaks or scorching. The recommended solution is to inspect the manifold for cracks or leaks, with replacement being necessary if the manifold is damaged. After replacing the defective manifold, the vehicle's performance issues were resolved.

I haven't checked for vacuum leaks around the intake manifold, but I will. I'll check the error code again. If it is the manifold, is it likely repairable or will it need replacement?

My leaking intake manifold was due to scorching. Repair wasn't an option due to the damage, so replacement was the only solution. Have a qualified workshop inspect the manifold for cracks or leaks. It's a fairly common issue, and they should be able to diagnose it quickly.

The intake manifold was defective due to scorching and had to be replaced. The total cost was 1180€. Now everything works perfectly again.

I had similar symptoms with my H1: jerking, loss of power, check engine light, rough idle, and strong exhaust smell. Have you checked for vacuum leaks around the intake manifold? A cracked or scorched manifold can cause those issues. Does the error code point to a specific sensor or lean/rich fuel mixture?
