Headlight and Windshield Washer Issues

My 2007 Mercedes CLK with a gasoline engine has headlight and windshield washers that have stopped working. I checked the fuses, and they seem fine. Is it a connection to the pump or the relay? Could a clog cause this?

I've had similar issues with my CLK. The headlight washer and windshield washer share a pump. A defective cable connection to the pump or a faulty relay is likely. Check the voltage at the pump connector when activating the washer system. If there's no voltage, the relay or wiring to the relay could be the problem. Did you check the washer fluid level?

Thanks for the quick reply! Checking the voltage at the pump connector sounds like a plan. Where exactly is that located, and how do I get to it without dismantling half the car? The fluid level is okay.

The pump is usually located in the washer fluid reservoir, often in the front wheel well or under the hood, near the windshield. You might need to remove the wheel well liner for access. If you're not comfortable with electrical testing, a workshop can diagnose the issue relatively quickly. It's often a straightforward fix, but chasing electrical issues can be time-consuming. The workshop visit and the new relay cost me 165€.

Right, I appreciate the help. Sounds like I'm best off taking it to the workshop. At least I have a better idea of what to expect now. Thanks for confirming it's probably the relay or connection. As it turned out, a rodent had chewed through a wire to the pump. They fixed the wire, and now it works. The bill came to 160€.
