Headlight cleaning system not working on the Ford S Max 2015: experiences and suggested solutions

Hey guys, I have a problem with my Ford S Max (built in 2015, gasoline engine). The headlight cleaning system simply no longer works. Could it be a fault with the system itself? Have any of you had experience with such a failure and how did you get it resolved at the mechanic? I'm grateful for any tips!

Hi, I'm not an expert, but I had a similar problem with my Ford Galaxy (built in 2013). The car wash also stopped working. I then had it checked at my garage and it turned out that the control unit was faulty. It cost me a total of 1000 euros to fix it. So it's possible that this could be your problem too. What engine type does your S Max have? Has it shown any other symptoms? With a little more information, I might be able to help you better.

Hi, thanks for your quick reply! All right, then I'll ask the mechanic about the control unit. There's nothing really noticeable about the engine, everything is running perfectly. My S Max has already clocked up an impressive 72625 km and the last inspection was a while ago, but so far everything has worked perfectly, apart from the headlight cleaning system. The only thing I've noticed is that the oil warning light comes on a bit more often. Should I have that checked too?

Hi, glad you got back to me so quickly. Yes, it's definitely a good idea to ask the mechanic about the control unit. Regarding the oil warning light - I would advise you to have that checked. Could be a sign that your oil level is low, especially if it comes on frequently. It happened to me with my Galaxy and after an oil change everything was back to normal. It may even have something to do with the failure of the headlight cleaning system, as the two systems run via the same control unit. But I'm not entirely sure - as I said, I'm not an expert. Hope the information helps you. In any case, let us know what your mechanic says!

Hey, thanks for the tip about the oil. That hadn't even occurred to me. I'll definitely take it up with my mechanic and the issue with the control unit too. Thanks for sharing your experience. I'll keep you posted on what the mechanic thinks!
