Headlight range control fault on Mercedes GLE Hybrid

Has anyone else encountered a headlight range control fault on their 2016 Mercedes GLE Hybrid? At 94029 km, the warning light is on, and the low beams seem misaligned. I'm worried it's a defective servomotor, especially since I was quoted 1040€ for the repair.

I understand your frustration. My old 2018 Volvo XC60 had a similar 'lighting system malfunction' error with its adaptive headlights; the beam adjustment was way off. Have you checked the headlight connectors for corrosion or damage? Mine was more complex than a connector issue. Do you have more diagnostic info than just the error message?

Thanks, I checked the connectors visually but didn't see anything obvious. The error memory points to a servomotor issue specifically. Is there anything in particular I should look for when I check the connectors again?

Given the servomotor error, a deeper look at the connectors might not help much. My Volvo's auto-leveling system had failed completely. I needed a whole new headlight assembly because the servomotor was integrated. Based on your diagnostic info, a qualified workshop is best for proper diagnosis and repair.

Thanks for confirming my suspicions and sharing your experience. A workshop visit was unavoidable. The diagnosis was a defective servomotor, needing a headlight replacement. The lighting is working correctly now.
