Heya! Dealing with car woes is always a bummer, ain't it? Your predicament totally rings a bell. I have a hunch that may be onto something as I too faced a similar issue with my 2004 MX5, turned out it was the alternator causing the troubles. Just out of curiosity, do you remember the price tag on the repair? And has the same problem popped up again since the fix? Catch you later!
Hey! Oh, yeah, you bet, it was a bit of a thrash about. Got the battery issue sorted out for around €290, a bit stiff but worth it to get everything up and running again. And since then, the rear window heater's been as good as gold, so it looks like the battery was playing up with that too. It seems like the bloke at the garage really knew his stuff and tackled the problem head-on, haven't had the same issue pop up again since. Hope this gives you a better idea. Cheers!
Lads, you wouldn't believe! I rushed straight to a new mechanic after hearing your thoughts. So, I got the battery checked, and guess what? The alternator was indeed the issue, just as you guys said! The bloke charged me a fair €250 and no more troubles since then. Thanks for the heads up, really appreciate the help. We should definitely catch up sometime, cheers!
Hey there! I had a similar issue with my 2005 Mazda RX8. My battery was weak and eventually hit empty. The symptoms included faltering heated windows - just as you described. After testing the battery and charging it up, my mechanic concluded that the alternator wasn't correctly charging the battery, which affected the electrical systems like the rear window heating. It wasn't a super serious issue, but it definitely needed professional intervention. Maybe that's your issue too? The problem should be fixable with a simple alternator replacement. I suggest ya get a fresh one from a trusted mechanic. Good luck!
