Thanks for sharing your experience. Facing the exact same steering sensor troubles in my 2020 Pacifica Hybrid now. Your description matches what I am going through perfectly. Before going ahead with the sensor replacement, would you mind sharing what the total repair cost was for you? Also curious if youve had any recurring issues with the traction control or steering since getting it fixed?

Had the repair done last week actually, the steering angle sensor defective was definitely the culprit. The shop did a full diagnostic and fixed the coding of the faulty sensor for 195€. Money well spent since the steering is back to normal now. No issues at all since the sensor replacement, the traction control warning disappeared right after they recalibrated everything. The steering feels properly weighted again and that annoying wheel shake is completely gone. The power steering works smoothly like it should. The steering sensor connects to multiple systems, so when it fails it can cause all sorts of problems. Getting the proper diagnosis and repair was key, trying to fix just the wheel alignment or checking the steering column wouldnt have solved it. Make sure they fully test the sensor calibration after the repair.

I finally went back to my mechanic today and got the steering sensor replaced. The total repair came to 210€, which seems fair after getting your input on costs. The shop did a thorough job testing the steering column and recalibrating all the connected systems. The difference is amazing, my steering is light and responsive again with no more shaking. The traction control warning light turned off as soon as they finished the sensor programming. They showed me the old sensor during the repair and it was definitely worn out. Really glad I got this fixed properly instead of just trying a wheel alignment. The mechanic explained how the steering sensor issue was affecting multiple vehicle systems, which matched exactly what you described. Thanks for helping me avoid getting unnecessary repairs done.

Last month I had nearly identical symptoms in my 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid. The heavy steering combined with wheel vibrations pointed directly to a faulty steering angle sensor. The traction control warning light typically illuminates because the steering sensor communicates with multiple vehicle systems. The mechanics found the steering sensor had failed, which affected both the power steering and stability systems. This wasnt a simple alignment issue, the automotive sensors in the steering column needed proper diagnosis and replacement. Without correct sensor input, the power steering system cant determine the wheels position, leading to the heavy steering feel. While steering column problems can cause similar symptoms, the combination of traction control warnings and steering issues strongly suggests sensor failure. This repair requires specialized diagnostic equipment to properly code and calibrate the new sensor. Its a serious repair that should be handled by a qualified shop. After replacement and programming of the steering angle sensor, my vehicle returned to normal operation with responsive steering and no warning lights. The symptoms match exactly what you describe, suggesting you likely face the same underlying issue.
