Help needed: Problems with 2016 BMW 3 Series - engine light, high consumption and knocking combustion
(Translated from German)
Summary of the thread
A 2016 BMW 3 Series owner is experiencing issues with the check engine light, power loss, jerking during acceleration, high fuel consumption, and strange engine noises, suspecting knocking combustion. A similar case involved loose charge air hoses, which were tightened at a workshop, resolving the problem. The owner plans to have the charge air hoses checked during the next workshop visit, hoping for a similar straightforward solution.

Hi, thanks for the tip about the charge air hoses. My car now has 156814 km on the clock. I always run on Super Plus, so the fuel should actually be fine. The charge air hoses could really be the problem. I'll talk about it at the next workshop visit and have it checked. I'll get back to you when I know more and what it has done. Until then, thanks again!

No problem, gladly! Yes, you're definitely not going wrong with Super Plus. Of course, given the mileage, it's always possible that something in the car will fail, unfortunately. It's good that you had the charge air hoses checked at the garage. I'll keep my fingers crossed that this really is the culprit and that it's nothing more serious. Keep us posted and good luck at the workshop. They'll get it sorted!

Hello, thank you very much for the kind words and your advice. Sure, we'll have to take a look at the mileage, it's a bit run down and of course things do break occasionally. I will definitely report how it turned out and what they had to do in the workshop. I'm happy if it can be solved as easily as it was for you. So thanks again and see you soon. Have a nice day!

Hi, I had something similar with my 2015 BMW 3 Series. I have pretty limited experience with cars, but maybe I can still help a bit. First, it's important to know how many miles your car has run and what kind of gasoline you're using. In my case, it turned out that the charge air hoses were loose. I then took the problem to a nearby workshop that specializes in BMWs. They tightened the charge air hoses and since then the engine has worked normally again. It cost me around 185 euros and I haven't had any problems since. Maybe your car has the same problem? Hope this helps a bit and let me know what comes out of it.
