Help wanted: Problems with Audi Q2 Diesel - indicator light on, engine stalls, loss of power

Hello, I have a few problems with my 2017 Audi Q2 Diesel and need your help. The indicator light is on, the engine stalls by itself, takes longer to start, it has significantly less power, the engine runs rough and sometimes the car won't start at all. I suspected that the camshaft sensor might have a wobble. Have any of you had similar experiences and can you give me tips on how to rectify the problem? I would like to know how your garages have solved the problem. Thanks in advance for your experience and advice.

Summary of the thread

The conversation revolves around issues with a 2017 Audi Q2 Diesel, which include an illuminated indicator light, engine stalling, delayed start, reduced power, and rough engine running. The owner suspected a faulty camshaft sensor. Other participants shared similar experiences with their Audi models, confirming that a defective camshaft sensor caused similar symptoms and was resolved by replacement in a garage. The owner later confirmed that the garage diagnosed and fixed the problem, likely the camshaft sensor, restoring the car's performance.

Hey, I once had a similar problem with my 2015 Audi A3. My camshaft sensor was also defective. I had it repaired in the garage for 185 euros and since then my car has been running perfectly again.

Hey, thanks for the answer. My Audi now has 55321 km. Can there be problems this early on? I hope this helps to narrow down the problem.

Hey, 55t km really isn't that much. But the way you describe it, it could really be the camshaft sensor. It was similar with my A4 B8. We had the same symptoms and at first I didn't know what was going on either. The car wouldn't start from time to time and when it did, the power was gone and the engine ran quite rough. The garage then replaced the camshaft sensor and it ran like clockwork again. I had to pay 200 euros at the time. That should have included the work and the replacement of the sensor. Good luck and keep us posted on how it was resolved for you.

Hi guys, thanks for your advice. Went to the garage and they looked for the fault. It was probably not difficult to find with the diagnosis. The whole thing went quite quickly and I was out 156€. But now everything is running smoothly again. TipTop and thanks again!

Based on the symptoms you've described, it could be a problem with the camshaft sensor, similar to what LudwigSpeedy experienced. However, it's best to start with simpler checks first. Check your fuel quality and levels, as well as your battery's health. If these are fine, consider getting a diagnostic scan at a garage to confirm if it's the camshaft sensor or something else. Remember, if you're not comfortable doing these checks yourself, it's always safer to consult with a professional mechanic.

Accoups vehicle random while driving FAP cleaned but still present

If your vehicle is experiencing random jerks while driving, it could be due to several reasons. Since you've already cleaned the FAP (Diesel Particulate Filter), the next step is to check the fuel system for any blockages or issues, such as a clogged fuel filter or injector problems. If the problem persists, it might be worth checking for any error codes with a diagnostic tool to pinpoint the issue. If you're unsure, it's advisable to have a professional mechanic inspect the vehicle, as driving with this issue could be unsafe. Let me know how it goes or if you have further questions!
