HHR Fuel Composition Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Chevy HHR is experiencing stalling at idle and a check engine light, with an OBD2 reader indicating fuel composition issues. The problem is likely due to a faulty or corroded connector on the fuel composition sensor. The suggested solution is to inspect and possibly replace the connector, which resolved the issue after a mechanic's intervention.

Corroded connector, eh? Where exactly is that fuel composition sensor located on the HHR? And how much of a pain was it to get to on your Saab? I'm not afraid to get my hands dirty, but I don't want to spend all weekend upside down in the engine bay.

On my Saab, it was near the fuel rail, tucked away. I'm not 100% sure where it is on your HHR, but a quick search online should give you its exact location. Honestly, if you're not comfortable poking around, a trusted workshop could diagnose it in minutes and save you the headache. It's likely a faulty plug connection.

Thanks a million for the tip! You were spot on! I took it to my local mechanic, and it was indeed a dodgy connector on the fuel composition sensor. A new connector and a quick reset of the error codes, and she's purring like a kitten again. Cost me 95€, but well worth it to avoid a full-blown fuel system issue. You saved me a ton of guesswork!

Sounds familiar! I had a similar issue with my old Saab 9-3. Same symptoms: check engine light, rough idle, and fuel trim errors. I initially suspected bad gas, but it turned out to be a corroded connector on the fuel composition sensor. Any chance you've checked the wiring around that sensor on your HHR?
