HHR NOx Sensor Exhaust Fumes
Summary of the thread
A 2008 Chevy HHR is experiencing a NOx sensor failure, indicated by a check engine light and exhaust fumes. The issue might be due to a loose wire or connection at the sensor. Good call on the wiring. Where exactly should I be looking for this NOx sensor and the plug connection in the exhaust system?

Given the exhaust leak and NOx sensor code, and your experience level, get a trusted mechanic to take a look. A defective cable or plug connection may be the culprit since it is close to the exhaust. They can pinpoint the leak and confirm if it's related to the sensor. The repair will probably be around 95€.

Appreciate the advice! I checked the plug and wires, but couldn't see much. Taking it to my local shop tomorrow. Hopefully, it's just a loose connection!

NOx sensor issues are common. An exhaust leak points to the sensor or its surroundings. Check the wiring harness and plug connection for damage, corrosion, or looseness. What's the current mileage?
