HHR Reduced Engine Power
Summary of the thread
A 2009 Chevy HHR is experiencing reduced engine power and error codes, suspected to be due to previous chip tuning by the former owner. The issue likely stems from aftermarket ECU modifications. The recommended solution is to restore the ECU to factory settings, which resolved the problem after being performed at a workshop.

I don't have the exact code on hand, but does that pretty much confirm it's the tuning causing problems?

Confirmation requires the diagnostic code, but the symptoms strongly suggest the third-party ECU tuning is the source of the malfunction. Restoration to factory settings at a qualified workshop is recommended.

Thanks for the info. Took it to a shop, and you were spot on. They reflashed the ECU back to stock. Cost me 180€, but it fixed the problem.

Fault codes indicate an issue with the ECU calibration. The aftermarket modification is likely the root cause. What diagnostic code is being reported by the scan tool?
