HHR Solar Sensor Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2007 Chevrolet HHR is experiencing a solar sensor fault, which is affecting the heating output. The issue may be due to a corroded cable or plug connection to the solar sensor, commonly located on the dashboard near the windshield. A suggested solution is to inspect and possibly repair the connection, or to take the vehicle to a professional for diagnosis and repair.

Thanks for the quick response! I did give the connections a quick look, but didn't see anything obvious. Where exactly is the solar sensor located, and what kind of voltage readings should I be seeing? Is there a specific pin on the connector I should be testing?

Okay, so the sensor is usually located on top of the dash, near the windshield. As for the voltage readings, honestly, I didn't dig that deep. I just wiggled the connector and the fault went away for a bit, which told me it was a connection issue. I'd suggest taking it to a shop; they can diagnose it properly. My local shop said the fix would be around 95€. It's worth the peace of mind.

Appreciate the info! I think I'll take your advice and bring it in. Knowing that the cable or plug connection is likely the issue gives me a good starting point. Thanks again for your help!

Hey there! I had a similar issue with my HHR. I didn't have the low heat, but the solar sensor fault kept popping up. Have you checked the cable and plug connection to the sensor itself? That was the culprit in my case; apparently, they can get corroded pretty easily. Is the sensor throwing any weird voltage readings?
