Maintenance? Just the usual oil changes and filter replacements. Nothing touched near the ABS or sensors. You think the lateral sensor is the culprit then?

Based on the information provided and the error code pertaining to the lateral acceleration sensor, it is highly probable that the affected control unit is indeed defective. Given the criticality of the ABS and electronic stability control systems to vehicle safety, it would be prudent to seek professional diagnostics and repair. Continuing to operate the vehicle with a known fault in these systems could compromise safety. I would strongly advise consulting with a qualified automotive technician or authorized Toyota service center for further assessment and rectification of the issue.

Thanks for the insight. Dropped it off at the shop, and you were spot on. Needed a new lateral acceleration sensor, and the whole thing cost about 1000€. Appreciate the help!

Greetings. Regarding your query concerning the 2017 Toyota Hiace, the symptoms you describe are indicative of a potential malfunction within the electronic stability control system. While wear and tear can contribute to component degradation over time, the specific error code related to the lateral acceleration sensor suggests a more focused area of investigation. Could you perhaps provide further details regarding any recent maintenance or repairs performed on the vehicle prior to the onset of this issue?
