Hiace engine power loss ECU fault
Summary of the thread
A 2020 Toyota Hiace with a gasoline engine is experiencing significant power loss, and a diagnostic check suggests a potential issue with the engine control unit (ECU). The owner suspects a faulty main relay might be affecting the ECU. After consulting with others who had similar issues, it was confirmed that a defective main relay was indeed causing the ECU malfunction, and the problem was resolved by replacing the relay.

Thanks. I checked the fuel filter and air intake, and they look okay. What error codes did you get, and did they also point to the ECU? Trying to figure out if it's the same problem.

Yeah, it was pointing towards the ECU. Honestly, I didn't mess with it too much. Just took it to a workshop. Best bet, I think.

Appreciate the input. Workshop was the way to go. Turns out it was a defective main relay causing the ECU to malfunction. Cost 120€ to fix. Thanks again.

I had something similar on my Hiace. Reduced power and error codes popping up. Did you check the usual suspects like fuel filter or air intake?
