Hiace Intake Air Temperature Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Toyota Hiace diesel with 70,573 km is experiencing a check engine light, reduced engine power, and rough running, with a diagnostic tool indicating an intake air temperature sensor error. Erratic temperature readings suggest a faulty sensor as the likely cause. Replacing the sensor resolved the issue, restoring normal vehicle performance.

I have monitored the temperature reading via my diagnostic interface, and the values seem erratic, fluctuating wildly even under stable operating conditions. I was hoping to ascertain if there might be any other potential causes before definitively blaming the sensor. Did your BMW exhibit the same fluctuating readings, and did replacing the sensor resolve the issue entirely?

Yes, the readings were all over the place. I replaced the sensor and it solved the problem. Since you already suspect the sensor, I would suggest taking it to a workshop. They can confirm the diagnosis and replace the sensor.

I appreciate your insights regarding your BMW. It seems my intuition about the faulty sensor was accurate. I had the sensor replaced at my local workshop, costing 155€. The symptoms have since vanished, and the Hiace is performing admirably again. Thanks for confirming my suspicions!

I had a similar issue with my old BMW 3 series! Same symptoms, error code and loss of power. Have you checked the temperature readings of the sensor? A faulty sensor will provide implausible values. If the temperature reading is way off, that pretty much confirms your suspicion.
