Hiace MAF Sensor Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2018 Toyota Hiace diesel is experiencing higher fuel consumption, engine stalling at idle, a check engine light, and smoke on acceleration. These symptoms suggest a potential issue with the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor, possibly due to a faulty air intake. The problem was confirmed to be the MAF sensor, and replacing it resolved the issues, restoring the vehicle's performance.

Air filter is clean, checked that first. Did replacing the MAF sensor fix it for you?

Confirming the issue was the MAF sensor. I'd recommend going to a workshop for diagnosis and replacement.

Thanks for the confirmation! It was indeed the MAF sensor! Cost me 365€ to replace. Runs like new now!

I had similar symptoms on my Hiace. Could be a faulty MAF sensor. Is your air filter clean?
