Hiace Windshield Washer Heater Failure

Hey, my 2007 Toyota Hiace diesel has a weird problem. The windshield washer heater isn't working. I keep getting an error, and the spray nozzles are totally frozen when it's cold. I checked the washer motor, and it seems fine. Any ideas?

Summary of the thread

A 2007 Toyota Hiace diesel has a windshield washer heater that isn't functioning, leading to frozen spray nozzles in cold weather. The issue is identified by an error code pointing to the heater, suggesting a possible faulty connection or defective cable. A suggested solution is to check the fuse and connections, but ultimately, taking the vehicle to a workshop is recommended for professional diagnosis and repair, as a similar issue was resolved by fixing a loose wire.

Did this summary help you solve your problem?

Sounds familiar! I had something similar with my Hiace. Does the error code point to the heater at all? It could be a dodgy connection somewhere. Have you checked the fuse box to see if the fuse for the windshield heater is still good?

Cheers for the quick reply! Yeah, the error code definitely points to the heater. Where exactly should I be looking for this dodgy connection you mentioned? And the fuse box - is there a diagram somewhere that shows which fuse is for the windshield heater? Don't want to pull the wrong one.

Right, if it's definitely the heater then yeah, sounds like the same thing I had. I'm no expert, but I'd say it's most likely the cable or plug going to the heater itself is defective, according to my local wrench. Honestly, in my case, I ended up just taking it to a workshop to get it sorted. They found a loose wire. Cost about 95€. Probably best to avoid messing with electrics if you aren't sure!

Thanks so much for the info! Sounds like a trip to the workshop is the best bet for me too. Will get them to check that cable and plug connection. Hopefully, it will be a quick and cheap fix like yours! Thanks again!
