Highlander Defective Throttle Valve
Summary of the thread
A 2015 Toyota Highlander experienced reduced engine power and a check engine light, with diagnostics indicating a defective throttle valve, potentially linked to the accelerator pedal module. Suggestions included checking the air intake and airflow to the throttle body for blockages. After a workshop inspection, the throttle valve was confirmed defective and repaired, resolving the issue.

Thanks, I'll check the air intake and flow. Did you also get a diagnostic code specifically for the throttle valve?

My codes were ambiguous, pointing to general air flow issues, not a specific throttle valve fault. With your specific code and symptoms, a workshop confirmation is probably best. It could save time and further issues.

Understood. Following your advice and a workshop inspection, the throttle valve was indeed defective. The repair was 265€. The vehicle is now working perfectly.

Interesting. I had a similar problem with my 2017 Volvo XC60. Limp mode kicked in repeatedly. Have you checked the air intake and air flow to the throttle body? Is it possible there's a blockage?
