Highlander Heating Issue
Summary of the thread
A 2012 Toyota Highlander Hybrid is experiencing low heating output, with an error code indicating an issue with the defrost air distribution flap. The problem is suspected to be a defective cable or plug connection. A similar issue was resolved by replacing a defective connection in the HVAC unit, suggesting a visit to a workshop for professional repair is advisable.

Interesting! What kind of issue did you have with the dashboard panel or HVAC unit? Was it something you could fix yourself, or did you need special tools?

Honestly, I tried poking around a bit, but I didn't want to mess anything up worse. The ventilation system seemed okay, and the blower motor was running, so I took it to a workshop. They confirmed it was a defective connection, and they replaced it. It cost me about 100€ plus tax. You should go to the workshop.

Thanks for the advice! I was hoping it would be a simple fix, but it sounds like a trip to the shop is the best bet. I got a similar quote (95€) from my local workshop, so I'll probably just get them to take care of it.

Whoa, that sounds familiar! I had almost the exact same thing happen in my Highlander - not a hybrid, though. The climate control was acting up, and the heat was barely working. Did you check the dashboard panel? I had an issue with the HVAC unit.
