Highlander steering vibration

Alright, I'm officially stumped. My 2020 Toyota Highlander Hybrid is giving me fits. Only 23624 km on the clock and I'm getting increased steering effort, almost like the power steering is failing intermittently. And the steering wheel is vibrating something fierce at certain speeds. Could this be the steering angle sensor? I've heard traction control or electronic stability systems can cause similar issues when wheel alignment is off. Anyone else experience this?

I had a similar issue with my Highlander. I didn't experience power steering failure, but the vibrating steering wheel was definitely there. Did you recently get your wheels aligned? That could trigger errors with the steering sensor.

Interesting. No, I haven't had an alignment recently. So, you think it’s definitely the steering sensor? Was it a gradual thing, or did it just suddenly appear? Any other symptoms besides the shaking?

For me, it came on pretty suddenly. No other weird symptoms besides what you described and an occasional warning light linked to the stability control. Took it to a workshop, and they confirmed a faulty steering angle sensor coding was the problem.

Right, excellent. Sounds like I'm heading to the workshop then. Thanks! Steering angle sensor it is. Hope it’s a simple sensor replacement and coding. I saw online that a replacement plus work would cost around 195€ – fingers crossed my bill is similar!
