Highlander Sun Blind Defect
Summary of the thread
The 2003 Toyota Highlander's sun blind is defective, failing to retract or extend, and is stuck in one position. A stored error and prior grinding noise suggest a motor issue. The problem was confirmed to be the motor, which was replaced at a workshop, resolving the issue.

Yes, there was a slight grinding noise for a few weeks before it finally stopped. Do you think it's definitely the motor then? Did you replace it yourself, or did you have it done?

Based on the grinding noise and the symptoms, it's highly likely the motor. I would recommend taking it to a workshop to get it properly diagnosed and replaced. I brought my BMW to the workshop.

Thanks for the advice! I took it to the workshop, and it was indeed the motor. The replacement cost 330€. Now it works perfectly again!

I had a similar issue with the sun visor on my older BMW 5-series. The sun blind was getting stuck, and it turned out to be a motor issue as well. Was there any grinding noise before it stopped working?
