Hilux AdBlue System Error

I've got a 2021 Toyota Hilux, diesel engine, with 163563 km. I'm getting an error message about the AdBlue tank being empty, even after refilling it. The error persists, it's stored in the memory, and now the engine won't start. Could the Ad-Blue output from the tank to the dosing unit be defective? Has anyone experienced this?

Sounds familiar. I've got a Hilux too, and I had similar issues with the AdBlue system. Did you check if the AdBlue injector is blocked? That can cause the same symptoms. Is the service light on as well?

Thanks for the reply. I haven't checked the injector itself, just the tank level. Where exactly is the injector located, and is it something I can easily check myself, or am I better off getting a professional to look at it?

Honestly, while you could try fiddling with the injector, it's pretty fiddly and connected to the emissions control system – you really don't want to mess that up. Considering it's preventing the engine from starting, and with those error codes, I'd say take it to a workshop. Better safe than sorry when it comes to the injection system and emission standards, right?

Thanks, I appreciate the advice. Took it to the workshop, and you were spot on. The AdBlue output from the tank was defective. New part and labour came to around 250€. All sorted now, thanks again!
