Hilux automatic temperature control issue

I've got a 2014 Toyota Hilux with a gasoline engine, and the automatic temperature control has gone haywire. The air conditioning system refuses to switch on, and I'm getting an error stored. I suspect it might be the interior temperature sensor. Has anyone experienced something similar?

Yep, sounds familiar. I had a similar issue on my Hilux (though mine's a bit older). Check the cable and plug connection to the sensor itself. A dodgy connection can cause all sorts of ATC problems and throw errors. Could save you a trip to the shop.

Thanks for the quick reply! Where exactly is the interior temperature sensor located? Is it easy to get to, or am I going to need to pull half the dashboard apart?

On mine, it was behind a small grille near the steering column. Should be accessible without major disassembly, but double-check your service manual. If the connections look solid, you might need a proper diagnostic check at a workshop to confirm the sensor is faulty. I ended up biting the bullet and having them take a look.

Appreciate the advice! Took it to the workshop; turns out the cable connection was indeed defective, just like you said. They sorted it out, and the total repair cost was 95€. Thanks again for pointing me in the right direction!
