Hilux auxiliary battery malfunction
Summary of the thread
A 2019 Toyota Hilux owner reported an auxiliary battery malfunction at 65,000 km, characterized by error messages, weak starts, and electrical issues like dimming lights and infotainment system reboots. The suspected cause was improper charging of the auxiliary battery. A suggested solution was to have the battery and charging circuit checked at a workshop, which confirmed the issue and led to a battery replacement and diagnostics.

Thanks for the quick response. By 'general electrical weirdness,' I mean seemingly random voltage drops. The interior lights will sometimes dim, and I once had the infotainment system reboot itself while driving. Also, the error messages seem intermittent. Do these problems sound familiar?

Yes, those issues definitely sound similar to what I experienced. Considering that, and given your technical skills, I would advise you to visit a workshop and have the auxiliary battery and related components checked. Especially the charging circuit.

Appreciate the insight. I followed your advice and took it to a workshop. Turns out the auxiliary battery wasn't charging correctly. The repair, including a new battery and diagnostics, came to around 290€. Thanks again for confirming my suspicions!

Interesting. I have a Hilux as well, but I also had a similar issue with electrical problems a while back. Could you be more specific about "general electrical weirdness"? What exactly is happening?
