Hilux Camshaft Sensor Error

Hey, I've got a 2017 Toyota Hilux with a gasoline engine that's been acting up. It's got about 77k kilometers on it. Lately, it's been starting rough, feels like it's lost some power, and the check engine light is on. I scanned it and it's throwing a camshaft sensor error. Anyone seen this before?

I had a similar issue with my Hilux! Not sure what engine you have, but mine showed the exact same symptoms and error. Have you checked the wiring and connections to the camshaft sensor? That's where I'd start.

Thanks for the tip! Where exactly should I be looking for potential issues in the wiring? Any specific spots known to cause problems?

On mine, it was the plug connection right at the sensor itself. It looked okay at first glance, but it was a bit corroded inside. Honestly, I would recommend checking everything, especially if you don't have experience, or just take it to a workshop. It is the best way to make sure you won't cause further damage.

Alright, thanks for the advice! Turns out the cable to the camshaft sensor was indeed defective. Got it fixed for 95€ at a workshop. Runs like new again!
