Hilux Defrost Air Distribution Fault
Summary of the thread
A 2013 Toyota Hilux diesel is experiencing a defrost air distribution fault, with an error stored in the error memory and low heating output. The issue is suspected to be due to a defective cable or plug connection. A similar problem was resolved by checking the ventilation system and blower motor, leading to the discovery of a corroded cable to the distribution flap, which was repaired at a workshop.

Thanks for the quick reply! When you say 'messed up', do you mean the air wasn't directed correctly, or that the fan wasn't blowing hard enough? Was it a constant issue, or only at certain times?

Yeah, exactly! The air distribution was completely off. It was barely blowing on the windscreen, and mostly coming out of the footwells. It was always doing it. I took mine to a workshop, they said it was the connection. Best get it checked out – they’ll sort it quick.

Appreciate the info! I'll bring it in to the workshop. Turns out your suggestion was spot on. The cable to the distribution flap had corroded. Repair cost me 95€. Thanks again!

I had something similar happen in my Hilux, the air circulation was all messed up. Check the ventilation system and the blower motor. Could be that, or related to the air distribution behind the dashboard panel. Is yours doing the same?
