Hilux Diesel Rough Running
Summary of the thread
A 2011 Toyota Hilux diesel is experiencing rough running, loss of power, jerking during acceleration, and stalling at idle, with the check engine light on. The initial suspicion is a rich air-fuel mixture possibly caused by a faulty mass airflow sensor. However, after professional diagnostics, the issue is identified as a malfunctioning fuel injector, which is then repaired, resolving the problem.

Injection valves, eh? Interesting. How did you figure out it was the injectors on your Volvo? Did you run any specific tests, or did the shop just tell you that's what it was? And what exactly does an injector do wrong to cause this kind of mess?

The malfunction was identified through diagnostic tests performed by a certified technician. The fuel injectors, responsible for atomizing fuel for optimal combustion, can become compromised due to blockages or internal failure, leading to an imbalance in the air-fuel ratio. Given the commonality of symptoms, I recommend seeking professional diagnostic assessment for your Hilux.

Cheers. Sounds like you've been there. Took it to the shop. Turns out you were spot on – dodgy injector! Cost me 515€ to get it sorted, but she's running sweet now. Appreciate the pointer!

The symptoms you describe resemble an issue I encountered with my previous vehicle, a 2018 Volvo V60. In my case, the 'check engine' indicator was triggered, accompanied by a reduction in engine performance. The diagnostic analysis indicated a malfunction within one or more of the injection valves/injectors. Have you considered this possibility?
