Hilux engine power loss

Sounds familiar. I had a similar issue with my Hilux (diesel too). Check your main relay. That can cause all sorts of weird electrical problems that mess with the engine control unit. Is the engine light on?

Thanks for the tip! Where exactly is the main relay located? And how would I know if it's actually defective?

It's usually in the engine compartment, near the fuse box. As for how to check, I'm no expert. I ended up taking mine to a workshop. They diagnosed it pretty quickly. Cost about 120€ to sort, all in.

Okay, thanks. I'll check the relay and probably take it to a mechanic. Turns out, the main relay was defective just like you said. It was replaced, and the Hilux runs like new. Thanks again!
