Hilux Exhaust Temperature Sensor Fault

Hi, I have a 2007 Toyota Hilux, diesel engine, with a faulty exhaust temperature sensor. The check engine light comes on, engine power is reduced, and fuel consumption is higher. Mileage is at 24011 km. I suspect a leak in the exhaust system. Anyone experienced this?

I had similar symptoms with my Hilux. Could be a heat sensor issue. Have you checked the exhaust system for leaks? That can trigger the sensor.

Thanks. Which sensor was it specifically, and did you notice any difference in the sound of the engine?

Didn't check the sound, but it was definitely the exhaust temperature sensor. Get it checked professionally; could mess with your emission control.

Okay, thanks. I took it to the workshop, and you were right, it was a leak in the exhaust system which caused the sensor to fail. Repair cost me 265€ Appreciate the help!
